The UC Food Observer is seeking an assistant editor. Here’s what we are looking for:
Right hand sought for a newly launched multi-platform editorial enterprise that is creating a targeted voice and social media presence at the University of California. We’re seeking someone with a strong strategic sense of content, enthusiasm, passion about food and agriculture and naturally collaborative. An inquiring mind, curiosity, critical thinking skills and balanced perspective are required. Should have a positive approach to work and excellent interpersonal, writing and diplomacy skills. An engaged social style and interest in building community is a must. Will have the opportunity to shape the content strategy and execution both on the blog and across different social platforms and will be expected to contribute ideas, content, and grow the project editorially with original content. Ideally, would understand the landscape of UC. The ability to connect the dots, cross-reference and go a step further is vital.
This position is part of the Marketing Communications team at the University of California’s systemwide headquarters (10 campuses, 5 medical centers, 3 affiliated national labs and a statewide network of agricultural extension offices and nature reserves) in Oakland, California. The position reports to the Editor of the UC Food Observer.
This is a fully-benefitted one-year contract position.
